Planifica con antelación para un comienzo saludable del año escolar
Con el fin del verano, en breve volverán a empezar las clases. Keep your kids healthy and ready for success with these Healthy Blue back-to-school health tips:
- Take your child to the doctor for a well visit and vaccine update.
- Schedule a sports physical if it’s required for your child to play sports.
- See the school nurse to talk about any medications your child takes.
- Remind your child not to share combs, hats or water bottles to avoid catching or spreading illness.
- Check for any updates on your child’s medicine with the Healthy Blue Comprehensive Drug List or the Over-the-Counter (OTC) Drug List.
- For more info on medicine, visit our Pharmacy Benefits webpage or call Pharmacy Customer Service at 866-781-5094 (TTY: 866-773-9634).
- Updates on common medicines your child may take
- Rescue inhalers: Inhaler brands Ventolin HFA and ProAir RespiClick are covered by Healthy Blue. Spacers are covered up to two units per year. This way, your child can have one inhaler at school and one at home.
- Allergic reactions: Find EpiPen, EpiPen Jr. and other approved generic medicines at your pharmacy.
- Lice outbreak: You can use OTC treatments such as Permethrin 1 percent creme rinse or other medications like Permethrin cream and Natroba™ suspension. To have these medicines covered by Healthy Blue, you'll need a prescription from your doctor.
- Medicines for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD): The following medicines do not need prior approval:
o Adderall tablets (brand name and generic)
o Amphetamine salt combo XR capsule
o Daytrana® patch
o Dexmethylphenidate tablet or ER capsule
o Dextroamphetamine tablet or ER capsule
o Dyanavel® suspension
o Methylphenidate CD capsule, solution/tablet, ER tablet or LA capsule

o Vyvanse capsules and chewable tablets - OTCs: Healthy Blue may cover both prescription and OTC medicines as long as you get your doctor’s okay. Use our easy Healthy Blue Drug Lookup Tool for a list of allowed medicines, including OTCs.
