
Don’t forget to drink plenty of water when it gets warm

Warm weather means spending more time outside. Lots of physical activity outdoors can lead to dehydration. You are dehydrated when your body doesn’t have enough fluids to carry out normal activities.
Some signs of dehydration include confusion, headache, dizziness, dry mouth, dry skin and extreme thirst. When the body loses too much water, its organs, cells and tissues won’t work. This could make you sick.
Here are some tips to stay healthy and hydrated during the spring and summer:
- Drink plenty of water every day. Drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses per day.
- Eat plenty of fruits and veggies that have lots of water. These include watermelon, strawberries, cucumbers and celery.
- Limit coffee, tea, alcohol and caffeinated drinks such as sodas. These drinks actually take water from your body.
- Dress cool in warm months. Avoid being in the direct sun if possible.
- Carry and use your favorite water bottle. This will remind you to drink water even when you are out playing and having fun.
