A = Alert an adult.  
M = Make safety your goal.
E = Eat well.

Spring is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy outdoor activities. Focus on taking the first step to keep you and your family healthy.

The letter "G" in Coach Blue's game plan stands for "Getting Active." According to Coach Blue, regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health.

You need about 2 ½ hours of medium-intensity physical activity each week. You can split that into 30 minutes a day for 5 days. Make sure what works best for you fits into your schedule.

Benefits include better sleep, less anxiety and lower blood pressure. Getting active also helps lower your chances of getting chronic conditions such as heart disease, Type 2 diabetes and some cancers.

Here are some easy ways to get active, improve your health and enjoy the outdoors this spring.

  • Walking: Take a brisk walk around your neighborhood or a local park. It's a convenient option to get moving and enjoy some fresh air.
  • Stretching: Go outside on your porch, deck or even in your yard. Spend a few minutes each day stretching your muscles. It helps make you more flexible and reduces the risk of injury.

  • Playing with pets: If you have pets, playing with them outside can be a great way to get some exercise and have fun.
